The Enforcement Directorate has attached 19 properties valued at Rs 35.43 crore belonging to the Popular Front of India (PFI) under the PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act).

This is in addition to the 16 properties worth Rs 21.13 crore attached earlier.

In total 35 properties worth Rs 56.56 crore have been seized in the PFI case.

Enforcement Directorate stated that the banned terrorist group PFI was building an Islamic movement in India through jihad. They uncovered assets worth over Rs 35 crore linked to PFI and its affiliates, controlled under various trusts, companies, and individuals. The organization employed violent and non-violent tactics, including brutality and quashing, as part of their efforts in India.

The Centre banned the PFI in September 2022 due to raids by the ED, NIA, and state police forces uncovering their true objectives. The PFI, formed in Kerala in 2006 but based in Delhi, is accused of planning Islamic movements in India through jihad, despite presenting itself as a social movement in its constitution.

PFI is accused of encouraging violence during the Delhi riots in February 2020. The ED claims PFI planned to form a terrorist group, collecting weapons to target key places and individuals, aiming to disrupt India’s unity, integrity, supremacy, and communal harmony. The organization allegedly organized a training camp to create disruption during PM Modi’s visit to Patna on July 12, 2022, and printed criminal literature threatening the country’s unity.
