Election Schedule Declared

As per the Central Election Commission, Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024 to be held in two phases on 13 & 20 Nov’24.

JMM, Congress and CPIM released a joint manifesto with promises including Sarna Dharma Code.

CM Hemant questioned the early elections, stating their government had a month left in tenure. Elections now in 2 phases instead of 5.

Voters are promised: “One vote, seven guarantees”

Congress party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge and leaders from Rashtriya Janata Dal, Left parties and coalition parties were present at the release of the Nyay Patra election manifesto by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.

Highlighting seven guarantees under the theme “One vote seven guarantees

 

View each of the manifesto’s key points point by point

(i). Each citizen will get a 7 kilogram ration from the government as part of the food security guarantee.

(ii). For Rs 450, a gas cylinder would be provided to every low-income family in the state.

(iii). Women would get benefits under the Maiya Samman Yojana, including a promise of Rs 2,500 benefits.

(iv). 10 lakh young men and women are promised jobs under the employment and health security guarantee. Up to Rs 15 lakh in family health insurance is assured.

(v). Make a commitment to upholding social justice while safeguarding the rights of minorities, such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC). Guarantee the establishment of a Ministry for the Welfare of the Backward Classes.

(vi). Degree colleges will be constructed in every block as part of the education assurance. The establishment of universities and engineering-medical colleges at the district headquarters is promised. 500-acre industrial parks will be constructed in each of the state’s district headquarters to create opportunities for employment.

(vii). The government has pledged to continue increase the minimum support price (MSP) for farmers’ crops from Rs 2400 to Rs 3200 as part of the Kisan Kalyan Guarantee. A 50% increase in the support price for specific seeds, such as lac, tassar, karanja, tamarind, mahua, chironji, and sal, is assured.

After releasing their manifesto, Chief Minister Hemant Soren promised that the Sarna Dharma Code and social justice would be guaranteed if the alliance parties come to power.

They also pledged to create a local policy under the Sarna Dharma Code and provide 7 kg of ration per person and gas cylinders for Rs 450 to each poor familiy. whereas The BJP’s manifesto includes a proposal to approve the creation of two lakh jobs in their first cabinet meeting.

Elections for Jharkhand’s assemblies is set for 13 Nov and 20 Nov. additionally some states will have by-elections. The Central Election Commission has set November 23 for the counting of ballots in Jharkhand’s general elections and by-elections.

In Jharkhand, the BJP is the primary opposition party, with the Congress standing in third.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has 27 MLAs, making it the largest party in the 81-member assembly. The BJP is the main opposition with 24 MLAs, and Congress is the third largest with 18.
