A new FASTag annual toll pass will be available for private vehicle users across India from 15th-Aug-2025.
This special pass has been introduced by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to make highway travel easier and faster.
Basically, this annual FASTag toll plan offers great value and convenience for those who often travel by road.
By reducing wait times and making toll payments simpler this scheme aims to improve the overall driving experience across the national highway network.
When can the services be availed?
The official online link to apply for the FASTag Annual Toll pass will be live from 4th-Aug-2025. This link will be accessible through following applications or apps
- The Highway Yatra mobile app
- The official NHAI website
Anyone interested in this pass can pay and recharge it through these platforms directly into the existing FASTag account.
What is the FASTag annual toll pass?

The pass was announced by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. It allows toll-free travel at up to 200 toll plazas on national highways and expressways.
Key Features and Benefits of Annual Toll Pass
- Cost/ Recharge amount to be paid: Rs. 3,000
- Validity: 1 year or 200 toll plaza trips (whichever comes first)
- Applicable at: NHAI toll plazas on National Highways (NH) and National Expressways (NE) only
- Not valid at: Expressways or State Highway (SH) tolls
Is it mandatory?
No, this annual plan is not compulsory. The standard FASTag system will continue for everyone. This is just an option for easier and faster travel especially for those who travel regularly on highways.
How to get the pass?
Below are the simple steps to activate the pass –
- Visit the Highway Yatra app or the NHAI website
- Enter vehicle and FASTag details
- Pay Rs. 3,000 using online payment options (not from FASTag wallet)
- Within 2 hours, the pass will be activated on the registered FASTag
Please Note: No new FASTag is required.
It will work perfectly If the existing FASTag is properly attached to the windshield, linked to the vehicle registration number and not blacklisted.

Who can get the pass?
The annual toll pass is available only for non commercial private vehicles like –
- Cars
- Jeeps
- Vans
If a commercial vehicle is found using this pass NHAI has the right to cancel it without notice.
Where is the pass valid?
The pass can be used at-
- National Highway toll plazas
- National Expressway toll plazas
It is not valid on state highways or private expressways.
How trip will be calculated?
There is a simple method to calculate the number of trips
- One crossing of a toll = 1 trip
- Going and returning = 2 trips
- Closed toll plazas with both entry and exit = 1 trip
Important points to remember
- Payment for this pass cannot be made using the balance in the FASTag wallet
- All updates and alerts will be sent to the registered mobile number via SMS
- The pass is most useful for frequent highway travelers who want to save time and avoid queues
- According to NHAI, toll plazas are placed roughly every 60 km on average on Indian highways
