Jammu and Kashmir VidhanSabha Election 2024
The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election has been scheduled for September 18, September 25, and October 1.
It is the first assembly election since 2014, and the results will be declared on October 4 on Friday afternoon Confirmed by Election Commission. Currently the state has been under President’s Rule since 2018.
This is a major steps forward in the poll body’s efforts to comply with the Supreme Court’s mandate that democracy return to the Kashmir Valley and Jammu by September 30.
It was last month in Srinagar when Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that state will be restored and that an election would be conducted shortly.
According to the Election Commission The final voter list will be released on August 20, the day following the conclusion of the Amarnath Yatra. Estimated voter turnout is around 87 lakh. The election’s decision to go beyond the deadline set by the Supreme Court by four days was also rejected by the EC.

The Election Commission announced the dates for the Jammu Kashmir elections, set to be held in three phases. Voters will choose candidates for 90 seats, with the first phase on September 18, the second on September 25, and the third on October 1.
The counting of votes will take place on October 4, following their promise of a shorter election duration made on June 3.
Election Commission announced gazette notification for first phase of elections on August 20. Nominations due by August 27, scrutiny on August 28, and withdrawal by August 30.
Voting scheduled for September 18. Second phase notification on August 29, with nominations due by September 5 and scrutiny on August 28.

The lower house of the Indian Parliament is called the Lok Sabha. The electorates of Jammu and Kashmir directly elect the five members who represent the union territory.
A member is chosen every five years. The population of each state and union territory determines the number of seats that are allotted to them.

- Ninety seats make up the Jammu and Kashmir the legal system. In the first phase, on September 18, voting will take place for 24 seats in the districts of Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, Kulgam, Ramban, Kishtwar, and Doda.
- On September 25, another 26 seats from the districts of Ganderbal, Srinagar, Budgam, Poonch, Reasi, and Rajouri will cast ballots in the second round. Voting in 40 seats throughout the districts of Bandipora, Kupwara, Baramulla, Udhampur, Jammu, Samba, and Kathua will take place on October 1st, the last phase of the election.
- Assembly poll timetable announcements have been praised by the public and by all political parties, including CPI (M), BJP, Congress, National Conference, PDP, Apni Party, Democratic Progressive Azad Party, and National Conference.

- Jammu and Kashmir’s ninety assembly constituencies, seven are reserved for candidates from the SC and nine for those from the ST. There are seventy-four general assembly constituencies.
- 44 lakhs and 46 thousand men and 42 lakhs and 62 thousand women make up Jammu and Kashmir’s total voter number of 87 lakh nine thousand.
- There are 20.7 lakh youthful voters and 3.71 lakh first-time voters.
