On 18-Feb-1989 Oil India Limited originally known as Oil India Private Limited and it was established as a private limited corporation. Exploration and production of crude oil was the primary goal of the corporation when it was founded.
Beginning on 4th-May-1961, the firm was renamed Oil India Ltd. from Oil India Pvt Ltd.
Oil India Limited (OIL) is a central public sector undertaking engaged in the business of exploration, development and production of crude oil and natural gas, transportation of crude oil and production of liquid petroleum gas.
The central public sector undertaking is a Maharatna, with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas overseeing its operations. Headquartered in Duliajan, Assam, the company has its offices in Duliajan, Noida, Guwahati and Jodhpur.

Age Limit (as of 18 August 2025)
- Minimum age: for all posts is 18 years.
- Maximum age: depends on the job and category – usually between 30 to 35 years for General, SC, ST and OBC-NCL.
- Age relaxation: is available for persons with disabilities, ex-servicemen, current OIL workers and Trade/Diploma apprentices.
Note: In some cases, the age limit can go up to 50 years also.
Oil India Work persons Recruitment 2025 | How selection will be done
(i). A computer-based test (CBT) will be conducted with 100% marks based on
- General English and General Knowledge – 20%
- Reasoning, Arithmetic, and Mental Ability – 20%
(ii). Technical/Subject Knowledge
- 60% Minimum marks required to pass
- 50% for General, OBC, and EWS categories
- 40% for SC, ST, and PwBD categories
(iii). Test will last 2 hours.
(iv). Questions will be in both English and Assamese (for most posts) and in English and Hindi for SAH12025.
(v). All questions will be multiple choice. There will be no negative marking.
(vi). If two candidates get the same marks, the one with higher marks in the technical section will be preferred. If still tied, marks in reasoning will be considered. If still tied, the older candidate will be selected.
Oil India Work persons Recruitment 2025 | Post wise educational qualification and work experience
- BLR12025: Candidate Should be Passed Class 10 and Mandatory to have 2nd Class Boiler Attendant Certificate.
- OSG12025: Candidate Should be Passed Class 10 and Mandatory to have 3 years of work in police or defence-related service like Constable, Armed Forces or CAPF.
- JTF12025: Candidate Should be Passed Class 12 and Mandatory to have 1-year course in Fire & Safety or Sub-Officers course + Heavy Motor Vehicle Driving License.
- PHS12025: Candidate Should be Passed Class 12 and Mandatory to have 1-year Diploma in Sanitary/Health Inspection + 1-year experience.
- TBR12025: Candidate Should be Passed Class 10 and Mandatory to have 1st Class Boiler Attendant Certificate.
- NTR12025: Candidate Should be B.Sc. Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing and Mandatory to have 2 years of experience + Registered with State Nursing Council.
- SAH12025: Candidate Should have Bachelor’s Degree in Hindi (Major) and Mandatory to have 1-year Diploma in Hindi Translation + 6-month Diploma in Computer Applications + 1 year of experience in translation work.
- CHE12025, CIV12025, COM12025, INS12025, MEC12025 and ELE12025: Candidate Should be Passed Class 10 and Mandatory to have 3-year Diploma in the related engineering trade. For ELE12025, Electrical Supervisor’s Certificate is also Mandatory.
