Major districts across India are getting ready for a national civil defence drill.
The focus is on regions close to international borders. This safety exercise will help improve emergency response and public awareness.
This national-level drill is a step toward safer and stronger disaster readiness. More training and awareness will help protect lives during any emergency situation.

Districts taking Part in the Drill
Border states and strategic zones have been selected:
- Punjab
- Rajasthan
- Jammu and Kashmir
- West Bengal
- Northeast states
- Delhi (urban zones)
- Uttar Pradesh (Total 19 areas including Lucknow, Kanpur, Mathura, Saharanpur)

Civil Defence Mock Drill in India | Volunteers on duty
Trained volunteers are already active in states like Delhi, West Bengal and Punjab. They help with traffic, crowd control and local emergencies.
The system is mostly volunteer driven and has a few paid staff.
More people join in as and when needed.
How do residents get ready for drills?

- Water, flashlights, and basic medications should always be kept on hand.
- Be clear of false information and only believe official sources.
- Comply with local regulations and assist the authorities.
- Participate in local drills or awareness campaigns.

Who will take part in the drill in civil defence?
- There will be a large network of volunteers and staff in civil defence.
- District Administration for the purpose of cooperation.
- Wardens for civil defence and home guards.
- Students for community support and outreach, NSS, and NCC.
- Law enforcement and paramilitary forces.
Civil Defence Mock Drill in India | Details of Civil Defence Districts
The Home Ministry has a list of 244 civil defence districts. These are not normal administrative areas. Instead they are marked based on how sensitive and important they are during an emergency. Full details can be seen here on offical website of dgfscdhg.gov.in.
